ELECTRICAL INSTALLATION CONDITION REPORT

WHAT IS AN EICR?

Fixed wire testing is the testing of the circuits contained within the fabric of your building. The socket outlets, lighting circuits and various others. This was formerly known as Periodic Inspection and Testing, however since January 2012 it is now called an Electrical Installation Condition Report.

WHY DO I NEED THIS?

The two main dangers associated with electricity are risk of electric shock and risk of fire. Over time, all electrical equipment deteriorates with age, and it is in the best interest of not only yourself, your family, employees and any visitors, but also to your insurance company that you have an installation that is not only electrically sound but free from the potential risk of heat or fire. Therefore, if the safety of the users is not to be put at risk, legislation recommends that every installation is periodically inspected and tested by a qualified person. BS7671 recommends that every electrical installation is subjected to periodic inspection and testing. The Inspection and Testing should be carried out at appropriate intervals in order to determine what, if any anything, needs to be done to maintain the installation in a safe and serviceable condition.

RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM PERIODS BETWEEN INSPECTION AND TESTING

The recommended frequencies of inspection of electrical installations are as follows: –

Domestic Properties – Every 10 years or on change of occupancy

Rental Properties – Every 5 years

Commercial – Every 5 years or on change of occupancy

Hospitals / Offices – Every 5 years

Industrial / Restaurants and Hotels / Theatres / Leisure Complexes excluding Swimming Pools – Every 3 years

Cinemas – 1-3 years

Caravan Parks / Marinas / Swimming Pools / Launderettes – Annually

We offer a variety of testing schedules:

FULL TEST

We will carry out a 100% inspection and test of your electrical system and will supply you with a condition report that details the health of your system and identifies any electrical faults. We can provide circuit charts / schedules for every distribution board on request. Whilst we are on-site we will inform you of any failures requiring immediate repair. If electrical faults are identified we provide a free no obligation quotation to carry out rectification works to ensure the safety of your electrical system and to meet current BS7671 standards.

PERCENTAGE TESTING

We offer percentage testing i.e. 20% testing over 5 years or 33% testing over 3 years. This service is dependent on your testing schedule being fully up to date. The benefits of this are that you do not have a large expense at once and can split the costs over several years enabling you to manage your budgets and plan your maintenance programme whilst keeping you fully compliant.

ANNUAL VISUAL INSPECTION

We offer an annual visual inspection which can be combined with a thermal imaging survey, whereby we will inspect your electrical system and provide you with a report highlighting any electrical issues requiring further investigation or rectification and advise the best course of action.

Please feel free to contact us to discuss the various testing options available.
